Dear Readers,
The World Cup football championships begin in 3 days, and announcements are being made almost daily about problems with the German national team and players dropping out of the squad. Our team has been more fortunate and is currently welcoming new members. In this issue we would like to inform you about two new additions to our team.
We have some other items of news too which do not deserve to be overshadowed by the football’s major world event.

The ICC team is proud to announce that the International Congress on ADHD will be taking place at the ICC Berlin from 26 to 29 May 2011. The organisers are expecting some 1,800 participants. Find more information here
Bettina Breese
has been employed by Messe Berlin for the past 24 years. Previously she worked for the Protocol & Events department. Since April 2010 she has been applying her many years of experience and her expertise as Project Assistant with our team.
Joana Feikens successfully completed her training with Messe Berlin on 25 January 2010. Joana has already assisted the ICC team this March during the ITB Convention and again in April during the 127th Congress of the German Surgical Society. We now welcome her as Assistant Project Manager in the ICC Berlin team
The European Association of Event Centres (EVVC), the German National Tourist Board (DZT) and the GCB German Convention Bureau e.V. are cooperating with the European Institute for the Meetings Industry (EITW) to present the "Meeting & Event Barometer Germany 2010". The rankings show that, as a venue, Germany is the undisputed leader. More details can be found at:

Matthias Schultze, General Manager of GCB German Convention Bureau e.V., Joachim König, President of the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC), Ray Bloom, Chairman of IMEX and Prof. Dr. Michael-Thaddäus Schreiber, General Manager of the European Institute for the Meetings Industry (EITW), presented the latest findings from research into the German meetings and congress market during the “Meeting & Event Barometer 2010” press conference at IMEX in Frankfurt.
The World Ophthalmology Congress is being held for the first time in Berlin. After Heidelberg (1888) and Munich (1966) the Ophthalmological Society has chosen the German capital this year. Friday, 5 June, sees the start of the largest international congress of ophthalmologists, with some 10,000 participants, a comprehensive scientific programme and a broadly based range of accompanying cultural events.

We are delighted to be able to welcome the Neurological Society back to the ICC, after its last appearance here in 2002. Once again this year. at what is now the 20th Congress of the European Neurological Society, participants will find a programme featuring many varied workshops, practical sessions and interactive presentations. The accompanying exhibition, from 20 to 23 June, provides companies in this field with opportunities to present their products and their achievements, and to discuss technological advances and future trends with other informed people. The XXXI Congress of the International Society for Blood Transfusion is taking place this year in association with the 43rd Congress of the German Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immune Haematology. The programme will present the latest and most up-to-date developments in transfusion medicine. More information here
